Flight testing of the Angara Space Rocket Complex (SRC) begins at the MoD State Testing Cosmodrome (Plesetsk Cosmodrome) in the Archangelsk Region. The decision to this effect was adopted today at the session of State Commission for test flights of satellite launch systems held at the Aerospace Defense Force HQ.

The State Commission reviewed the status of the Angara-1.2ML (ML stands for “Maiden Launch”) Integrated Launch Vehicle (ILV) and the ground infrastructure readiness for Angara testing, and identified the ILV rollout date to the Plesetsk Cosmodrome multi-purpose launch pad complex.

At Site 41 Processing Facility, launch base specialists are completing the final operations to prepare Angara-1.2ML ILV for transfer to the Angara SRC multi-purpose launch pad. A team of servicemen from the launch site Center for Testing and Employment of Space Systems are carrying out a 24h monitoring of temperature, incoming air cleanliness and excessive air pressure flow rate from under the ILV fairing. The multi-purpose launch pad is being prepared for the Angara-1.2ML electrical checkouts and pneumatic tests, and for the LV fuelling.

The rollout of Angara-1.2ML to the Angara SRC multi-purpose launch pad is scheduled for 25 June 2014, the final decision for so doing expected to be announced by the State Commission during its session at Plesetsk Cosmodrome on 24 June.

Colonel Alexei Zolotukhin of the MoD Press & Information Service for the Aerospace Defense Force said today the test launch of light-lift Angara-1.2ML ILV from Plesetsk Cosmodrome is scheduled for 27 June 2014.
