Is anybody here involved with this project? Also did anybody here know about this organisation? _________________ "SCREW THE RULES, WE HAVE MONEY!" http://www.freespaceships.com |

BlackArrow wrote: Interesting links - thanks for sharing ![]() ![]() No worries. I have this issue that every day I get online I find new interesting stuff like this. But it makes me wonder how much stuff is out there I am not aware of. It wouldn't hurt to have a nice database of these places that one could easily browse. It seems there is a lot of activity amongst hobbyists and general public trying to get involved or be part of our expansion to space. There is no place that actually measures and monitors this activity which probably would be essential if we want to make our collective spacegeekdom amount to something. I watched Elon Musks tour of SpaceX from 2011 and it helped me see what sort of organisational "level" one needs to pull off putting something together that can be launched into space. It needs thousands of people effectively communicating and working together in a very complex and tight network. We can build networks easily over the internet, but can we duplicate the efficiency and scales of operations of a proper for profit engineering company like SpaceX or Lockheed Martin? /lol I just found what I needed for another post. http://www.lockheedmartin.com/us/news/press-releases/2013/may/0507-ss-adam.html:D/ I would like to see these open source organisations to mature to a stage where they could carry out engineering on big scales. Hundreds of millions of dollars budgets, millions of man hours of work etc. I guess it could be achieved if all current companies went open source all of a sudden. But that wouldn't happen for legal and economical reasons. So we have to take the long route and wait for the community to grow and mature by itself. I don't know why I just ranted on a completely tangent topic. ![]() _________________ "SCREW THE RULES, WE HAVE MONEY!" http://www.freespaceships.com |

Actually just check out moonmars.com, it's another one of those space group social network startup thingy I want to do too. ![]() Anybody here joined the spaceGAMBIT group on facebook? There are some good stuff shared there occasionally. _________________ "SCREW THE RULES, WE HAVE MONEY!" http://www.freespaceships.com |
