I never liked fantasy, and while I watched TNG religiously as a kid, these days I'd prefer Gilmore Girls (well, before it got super-dramatic in season 6 or so) over Star Trek soap-wise.
My vote for best tv/film science fiction would probably go to the new Battlestar Galactica, especially the pilot and the first season (halfway through the second season quality dropped somewhat, down to the level of some of the better Star Trek episodes I guess). Taken takes second, The Outer Limits third, and I'll always have a soft spot for Space: Above and Beyond. _________________ Say, can you feel the thunder in the air? Star Trek for sure...more storylines and better characters.
compare Star Wars TV episodes to Star Trek, no comparison compare Star Trek movies to Star Wars saga. still close there but overall Star Trek is better. |

I like both.
Star Wars is more like a fairytale to me (esp. 4,5,6 parts). Star Trek looks more scientific. _________________ http://www.julianraymusic.com/blog |

Star Wars is fantasy, Star Trek is science fiction. pure and simple _________________ “Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.” -Anonymous |

I like the original StarWars. StarTrek and the new starwars movies give a future that is just too shiny. You need a bit of grit and grime to be believable.
I think Firefly did the best job of a believable Science fiction

I like both, but the Star Wars movies ended, and Star Trek has made two films and television series that was a split.

Firefly.
I watched a dune movie and it sucked hard, but the books were awesome. I hope some day someone makes something good based on them. |

Firefly. Whatever everyone else is doing, there will always be an anarchist future if you want it

Star Trek, I've watched it since I was a little girl, and have loved it (:
Star Wars is cute, I have nothing really against it, and it's fun to watch with my friends. Star Trek just satisfies my inner nerd. I also loved Firefly, still haven't seen it all though. And am also a fan of Stargate! _________________ "Don't tell me that man doesn't belong out there. Man belongs wherever he wants to go--and he'll do plenty well when he gets there." My vote is Star Trek.
I saw some of TOS back in the early 80s but became a real fan since TNG. Something that I like about TNG and the newer series, is how their view-screens, computer interfaces, etc is still believable today after decades. Another favourite of mine is Buck Rogers. Unfortunately BR looked dated even when it came out. TNG was released in the same decade (+-5years apart) as BR and looks decades ahead in technology. Who believes we'll see another Star Trek series? I do miss them. _________________ Johann Grobler AeroSpace Research http://www.aerospace-research.co.za |

Harry Potter!
And yeah, I wish they'd make another star trek. But on the lines of TNG, or the original, the follow ons stunk. _________________ “Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.” -Anonymous |
