Post Space Shot test   Posted on: Mon May 09, 2011 4:51 pm
This month Team Prometheus will be making a rockoon launch testing the avionics and recovery for our first attempt at a space shot. We plan a press release as soon as we are ready. This launch will be testing our tracking, telemetry and recovery systems.
This launch will carry all the avionics and cameras we will be flying on the space shot. The planed altitude for launch is 80,000ft. because all of our successful balloons have cleared this altitude.

This test was made possible by the contributions of all the members of Team Prometheus past and present.

So did the Kickstarter thing work out for you then :?: And are you aiming for a suborbital of over a 100Km with this test :?: if so good luck.

Nope, this is not the big suborbital. This test is to over 80,000ft. Big launch in August. This ones important to us.

Monroe,

It good to see your ready to fly another mission. I hope things go well. How large is the rocket you're launching? When do you plan on launching? Where are you launching from?

Dave

Dave
You'll have to call me if you want to know. Cant say until we are ready to do the press release then everyone will know. I'll say the rocket is big enough to carry ALL the avionics and cameras we are flying on the space shot.
Weather is a bit of a problem right now so it will come as soon as possible when we get a break in the weather (WIND) major point we are pushing to launch before June 1st. So it will be short notice I'm pretty sure.
I'm on the coast today and Tim and I are working on the boat again getting it ready. We just bought a travel trailer to use for mission control and we are installing the gear in it when w launche get back next week.
Putting up the antenna's on Matagorda tomorrow if things go well here today. I have not been in the same place for more than a week for nearly 2 months now. The hardest thing is focusing on the launch and not taking side roads fixing up the boat, trailer's,truck ect...
This launch is a dress rehearsal for the space shot. We hope to grab the Micro-Prize from John and the guy's at the same time if no-one else beats us to it. (In August)
The wind is blowing 20mph today and the clock is ticking and the launch clock is way into the + side of Zero for the test. We need this one to work in the worst way.

I can wait till June 1st for the details. I understand that you want to avoid comments that may defocus you from your goal. However, if you provided details about your upcoming mission you might get some valuable feedback about something you may have overlooked.

You will need to disclose the details of your launch in August if you want to win the $10,000 prize. The rules require providing detailed information one month before the launch.
