if there was a point of going to mars for tourism then hell yea! people retiring with mega bucks would definitely go but without anything to do there its pretty much pointless.

It's not about doing anything, but simply being THERE. Same reason why folks climb Everest. Bragging rights, long held family wish, etc etc. |

Bragging rights, long held family wish, etc etc. the point is going there to stay for retirement. you firstly need to set the colony up and then make it meaningful for people to go there. its different to everest as its a place they will live there forever not just a joyride/holiday experience. |

I think low gravity and never having to see any of your relatives again are major selling points. The moon has even lower gravity but it's closer to earth so the risk of relatives coming to visit is greater.
