Warmly Greetings! In 1988 National Soviet Union Space Agency tested succeessfully the Space Shuttle named Buran,Snow Storm,thus an Antonov 226 was designed to uploading it.Russian Space Scientists were thinking about "the Kosmoliot",the first Spacecraft taking off and landing as a Plane.Why did all of these awesome and astonishing achievements were wipped out,and nowadays it has faded away amidst shadows and Dust.Buran was an Outstanding and underlying designing way to making headway for trekking into Space fulfilments.

I think you may be using translation software to post? that is not quite perfected yet but i think i get the gist.

I think they probably gave up for money reasons like the Americans seem to be doing now which was and is a shame as i think that if space was exploited properly in the long term the money would be a good investment both financially and socially.

Energia is a private company, so stuff that isn't cost effective or doesn't have a market gets cut.

that is an excellent article on the Soviet Buran Program.
It seems they never realyl expected it to go anywhere, mostly because of the cost, and political backing issues.

The Energia booster system was a seemingly excellent launch platform. expensive, yes. but it had a massive launch capability. The Buran was nothing more than a payload to the Energia booster and didn't provide power during launch. check out the Vulkan concept they had on the wiki and astronautix page.

@idiom
were they a private company at the time?

Not at the time it was built, but it was retired during the change over. Its on their books now though, and they still have the tech for any paying customers.

*crickets*

ahh... ok
unfortuately, the hadware is no longer there, at least with regards to the Buran. the only flying example was destroyed in a hanger collapse.

Don't know how much of the Energia booster hardware is still around, other than the Zenit (sea launch uses them) booster and maybe some RD-0120 engines.
