Under COTS, NASA is buying cargo transport services to the ISS on the commercial market. But now Lockheed Martin is commercially buying NASA's services to create tanks for LNG tankers. I guess it makes sense that if you can make huge liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen tanks, you can also make huge liquified natural gas tanks. But it's a funny arrangement somehow.
I'm wondering now, what other things are there that can benefit from Shuttle manufacturing technology? Can we find enough of those things to keep the old Shuttle work force employed? Can we then cancel the Senate Launch System and spend the money on useful things? Other than tanks, what's there? _________________ Say, can you feel the thunder in the air?
